Ed began traveling to Japan from his home in Portland, Oregon, when just 11 years old and still carries the memories of that formative experience today. Ed went on to spend  roughly eight years living and teaching English in Japan to a wide range of ages in a variety of settings. After returning to the US and relocating to Vermont, Ed worked at the Brattleboro Retreat helping in-patient teens with academics as a tutor, school liaison, and teacher, before joining Putney Student Travel to help share the life-changing magic of Japan with  new generations of students. In his free time, he enjoys playing music, games, and spending time with his two children.
