While at Penn State, Annette focused on the intersection of human rights, culture, and identity within her dual degree program. She participated in two study abroad programs: one in the Netherlands focused on social and criminal justice, and another in Colombia centered around its contemporary culture. Her international experience began earlier, when she spent ten months in Italy as an exchange student during high school. She lived with an Italian host family, attended a local high school, and developed strong language skills alongside a deeper understanding of Italian culture. Most recently, Annette worked at a nonprofit organization prioritizing youth mental health. She is now pursuing a career as a Young Adult novelist, exploring themes of human rights, culture, and identity that have shaped her academic and personal experiences. Annette is fluent in English and proficient in Italian. This fall, she will submit the manuscript of her first book to literary agents for potential representation.
