While at the University of Miami, Elena focused on psychology and particularly enjoyed her classes on child psychology. During college, she also studied abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina, an experience that ignited her love of travel. After graduating, she spent many years traveling and lived in India, Colombia, and China. In 2016, Elena moved back to Washington, D.C., where she taught history to middle and high school students for six years. At her previous school, she led a student group on a Civil Rights trip through Georgia and Alabama. More recently, a portion of her master’s thesis was published, and she presented her research at a conference in Barcelona, Spain. Elena is currently tutoring and enjoying exploring her new home state of Vermont! She speaks Spanish and is working to start a Spanish Language Club in St. Albans, where she and her friends can practice the language regularly. In addition to traveling, Elena loves reading, spending time outdoors as much as possible, cooking, and crafting.
