While at the University of San Francisco, Karim focused on media theory and storytelling and spent six months studying abroad at Massey University in Wellington, New Zealand. After graduating, Karim pursued photography and filmmaking projects around the world, documenting wildlife, cultures, and remote environments. Over the years, he has worked in more than 50 countries, spending time in places ranging from Arctic ice fields to active volcanoes and the open ocean. One of his notable achievements includes being named to the Explorers Club 50 and being selected as a crew member for the dearMoon project space mission. Karim now works as a photographer, filmmaker, and expedition guide based in Iceland, using visual storytelling to inspire protection of the natural world. He is also the co-founder of Kogia, a nonprofit media library that supports conservationists and storytellers in over 65 countries. Karim is fluent in English, speaks Arabic, and is currently learning Icelandic and Japanese.
