Rudi is a returning leader with Putney Student Travel, now in his fourth summer leading the Service Vietnam program. From South Africa and currently based in Hanoi, Vietnam where he has lived for the past three years, he brings a strong understanding of the local context alongside a globally informed perspective. He studied in Cape Town, where he developed a foundation in the arts, music, and socially engaged work—interests that continue to shape both his professional and creative life. In Hanoi, Rudi is also a business owner, creating inclusive, community-driven spaces at the intersection of hospitality, culture, and creative expression. His work is grounded in community building, environmental awareness, and fostering meaningful human connection. As a leader, Rudi is known for balancing structure with openness, encouraging students to be curious, self-aware, and actively engaged with the communities around them. He emphasizes stepping outside comfort zones while developing a deeper understanding of cultural exchange and impact. Rudi is fluent in English, German, and Afrikaans, and proficient in Vietnamese.
