During high school and university, Rudi focused on being involved in social and environmental responsibility activities and leadership positions within the Student Representative Council. After university and working in marketing for a large African brand, Rudi decided to head to Vietnam for his first international trip to teach English in a public high school in Ho Chi Minh City. Rudi then returned to South Africa and began pursuing his teaching career, working at the German International School, and becoming active in driving the school to “green status” through the EcoRangers and his committee’s work. He has explored extensively in South Africa and Southern Africa, observing issues of sustainability and food security. Rudi now resides in Hanoi, Vietnam after immigrating seven months ago. Rudi is fluent in English, German, and Afrikaans, and proficient in Vietnamese. This fall, he plans on traveling South East Asia and continuing his studies to complete a post-graduate certification in education (PGCE).
