Vanessa is a first-generation Mexican American and a multi-faceted artist with a double major in photography and illustration from Columbia College in Chicago. During her time in school, she gained national recognition for political cartooning while finding her footing in Chicago’s art and music scene as a performing guitarist and freelance illustrator and photographer. After graduating, she focused her energy on opening an art studio and community event space that serves as a pillar to the Chicago music and art community, providing a platform and safe environment for people of all ages, genders, and orientations. Vanessa is an ever-evolving artist and photo instructor who embodies travel, culture, and music in both her work and personal life. She is propelled by new countries, enlightenment, and gelato flavors she has yet to try! Vanessa has led student travel programs in Switzerland, France, Italy, and Greece and has taught photography at Putney’s Pre-College program in Tokyo.
