Middle School Exploration Greece & Italy students take us along as they discover the people, places, and traditions that have made their time in Kefalonia so memorable.

Hello families!
We are pleased to inform you that our time in Kefalonia has been adventurous yet peaceful. We have seen different ways that locals live. From farms to oceans, the people we’ve met have shared their Greek lifestyle with us.
On July 13, we visited a lovely farm where we met the farm owners, Georgia and her husband, Mikhalis. They grow their own produce in a true “farm-to-table” fashion. We saw the hard work that goes into their process, and we were so pleased to have learned their famous meat pie recipe. Georgia even gave us the recipe on paper so we could bring a taste of Greek culture back home. While diving into their recipes, we also had fun spending time with their chickens. Their garden was spectacular, filled with trees that provide for their restaurant and their family. From olive trees to lavender, figs, and persimmons, the garden provides food all year long.
After we explored the farm, we headed to the beach, where we swam, played volleyball, and definitely applied tons of sunscreen. The beach was so beautiful that we could even see the ocean floor. Finally, we returned to our hotel, where we took a much-needed rest. After cleaning up, we headed to dinner at the Hidden Garden. They specialized in spit-roasting, and their lamb showcased their amazing skills and delicious cuisine. Then we went on a quick shopping excursion to do some serious retail therapy. Then off to bed we went to prepare for our next day in Kefalonia.
In the morning, we were off bright and early to go kayaking. We were joined by guides from Sea Kayaking Kefalonia to explore the Ionian Sea and see new sights. During our adventure, we saw crystal-clear waters as well as some beautiful beaches. Because our adventure was so beautiful, we took lots of photos. Thanks to guides Carl and Tom, we now have many new memories on the water! We paddled 10 kilometers on our kayaks, ducking through caves and between rocks before stopping at a beautiful, quiet beach to eat a delicious Greek picnic lunch. We got lucky and even saw some turtles having their lunch as well!
We are so excited to see what else is in store for our adventure!
Love,
The Middle School Exploration Italy & Greece Students
