Exploration Japan student Skylar shares highlights from a day of exploring Toyooka, making onigiri, and connecting with local students.
Today we started out the day with some free time to wander around Toyooka, and many of us went to the main department store or did some laundry.
At lunchtime, we all learned how to make onigiri and had the option to use different fillings in the rice, such as tuna with mayo or salmon. The onigiri was delicious and very filling!

We then went to a local high school to meet Japanese students. At the school, we first walked around and waved at the students in their classrooms, then we met students from a specific class and were paired into groups. We talked with the students and got to know them, even with the language barrier, and they showed us around their school.

After leaving the school, we ended the day with delicious Wagyu beef over rice.Â
